Richard and Didi Acosta

Richard and Didi have been involved with education since 1968 in teaching, innovative curriculum design and implementation, mentoring, professional development, and consulting.

The Acostas have been team teaching since 1984, their philosophy being that a focused, integrated, disciplined teaching team is a whole greater than the sum of its parts.

Their credits include:
Collaboration in the design of the ESL curriculum at the University of New York at Albany (1969)
Design of the Camelot program in the NYC Public Schools (1970)
NCTE Center of Excellence humanities curriculum at John Adams Middle School in Albuquerque, NM (1985)
Finalists in the National Teacher of the Year (1991)
Quality Education Award — New Mexico Research and Study Council, University of New Mexico (1994)
Harry N. Lancaster Award-Journalism Teacher of the Year, NMSPA and New Mexico State University (1998)

Most Recently they have been working with New Mexico and Texas School Districts to create school cultures that nurture life-long learners.

Their work encourages school communities to examine their culture through the lens of PLAY:
